Advances in Industrial Wireless Communications: Semantic Communications, 5G Teleoperated Industry, and More [Editor’s Column]

As I write this column, the yearly metrics that measure impact of scientific journals have just been released, and year, results somehow stand in contrast for our magazine: its factor (IF) dropped two points, to 6.3 (Clarivate), while CiteScore grew 2.4 12 (Scopus). To better understand why IF first, we must remember an is a ratio: number citations over citable items considered narrow period, case, 2020 2021. What happened magazine? The 2022, used calculation new IF, significantly (+30% compared previous calculation), which very good! But at same time, underwent huge increase (+74%)! This phenomenon mainly due celebration, 2021, 70th anniversary IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), resulted additional special issue, with publication many more articles than normal year. However, whatever metric, or CiteScore, reputation magazine remains strong, high rankings category electrical electronic engineering: 49/275 (Clarivate) 47/738 result endless efforts authors, reviewers, editorial board members, who all work hard maintain highest standards magazine, am grateful them their voluntary constant dedication!
